Lacquerware refers to objects that are decoratively covered in lacquer which is a type of shiny finish applied to wood or metal. A practice indigenous to East Asian countries and it goes back a few thousand years in China, Japan, Korea and Burma. However, there are certain imitations in Europe too.

Fun Fact: In Burmese lacquerware is called Yun-de while the art is called Pan-Yun.
